Sonja Macdonald, MA
Sonja Macdonald is co-founder and director with the CCS. Sonja has over a 15-years of experience realm of public policy and is a specialist in Canadian media policy and analysis. Her work with the Centre includes coordinating the Hamilton Media Project, social policy research, citizen engagement and community capacity building. Previously, Sonja worked at the federal level in government relations including public policy development and advocacy as well as a parliamentary assistant to a Member of Parliament. She is currently completing her PhD.
Paul Shaker, MCIP, RPP
Paul Shaker is senior planner and Executive Director of the CCS. Paul has over 12-years of experience in the realm of urban planning policy and research including economic development as well as experience at the federal and municipal levels of government on issues related to the revitalization and sustainability of cities. The breadth of his experience spans the public, private and non-profit sectors which gives him a unique understanding of the mechanics of government, the planning process, and political decision-making.
