Sonja Macdonald, MA
Sonja Macdonald is co-founder and research director at the Centre for Community Study. Sonja has over fifteen years of experience in the realm of public policy and strategic communication. Her expertise includes organizational and strategic planning, media and social policy research, citizen engagement and community capacity building. She coordinates the Hamilton Media Project. Previously, Sonja worked at the federal level in government relations specializing in public policy development and advocacy. Prior to that she was a parliamentary assistant to a Member of Parliament. She is currently completing her PhD in communication policy at York University.
Paul Shaker, MCIP, RPP
Paul Shaker is Executive Director and senior planner at the Centre for Community Study. Paul has over twelve years of experience in the realm of urban planning policy and research including economic development as well as experience at the federal and municipal levels of government on issues related to the revitalization and sustainability of cities. The breadth of his experience spans the public, private and non-profit sectors which gives him a unique understanding of the mechanics of government, the planning process, and political decision-making. Paul is a member of the Canadian Institute of Planners and a Registered Professional Planner in Ontario.
